Chicago Trip

Our trip to Chicago was so wonderful
The weather was perfect and we all had such a great time being together.

We started at the American Girls store where the girls spent their hard earned money. :)  Riley bought a new doll and Janey bought the wheelchair and the Get Better Kit complete with crutches and a finger splint! (she has a thing for medical emergencies).  We surprised them and took them to the American Girl lunch right there in the store.  They thought that was so neat and wanted to buy the little chairs they have so your dolls can sit along side you at the table.  They served us a fancy 4 course meal complete with a candle in Riley's flower pot chocolate mousse. The girls felt so fancy!  Oh...and Aubrey surprised us all with doing
"So Big" for the very first time right in the middle of lunch.
{aren't these collages the coolest?  Did it through Picasa...if you click it it gets bigger...}

Of course the next biggest highlight of the whole trip was the hotel pool.
The splashes and squeals were nonstop.
It was Aubrey's first time in the water and she loved it.

After playing in the hotel for a bit we took Riley out to dinner for her birthday.

{see all those dolls tucked in for bed...please don't think we are indulgent parents all but 2 were gifts!:) }

...Miscellaneous Memories...

the girls highlighting the route in the car
running through the hotel hallways trying not to "touch black"
reading on the bench near the elevator in our pj's because Aubrey was sleeping
scary eye-shaped doorknobs
homemade straw snorkels
swimming in the pool at 6:30 AM!!!
the girls singing Aubrey to sleep in the car
Laurie Berkner music

...I don't want to forget you...

  3. Cindy-
    These are some great memories you have captured, what a great trip!
    I have to admit, i never really "got" the whole American Girl thing until we were in Chicago last year at Christmas and were in the store and I realized what Charlotte(3) would think of that place. I can't wait to take her there someday!

  4. I see you went back to The Shabby Blog background...love it. I'll have to try the collage. OK...you've made me feel like a slacker. I will work on mine while dad is at a bike (not motorcycle!) club meeting and I have some alone time.

  10. Just saw this post! My daughter sells jewelry (she's 9) and saved enough for her and I to take a trip to New York next Sat. Plus she saved spending $$. She/WE are super excited, I'll be doing a post on it soon. We got spiffy little outfits to wear, a mother and daughter day. I have a 4 year old too but shes a little young so she will be having a Daddy/ daughter day.:-) Looks like fun!!
    Blessings,

    Jill
