{Georgia}

we arrived at my parents home in georgia ready to soak up that mountain air.

we love how green and lush everything is...a bit different then what we're used to.:)

endless places to explore and things to see in their yard.
we were happy to be in the mountains again.

**********

our first adventure was riding the tractor to the craft show.

sometimes for kids, it has a lot more to do with how you get there then what you're actually going to see...am i right?!?!:)
i just love craft shows.
even if i don't buy anything, i love seeing peoples talents and gifts.
i so admire that creativity.
and the kettle corn was awesome!

there is just something about a creek.
and the one near my parents home was no exception.
i think they could have played there for hours.

finding special rocks.
building damns.
i have memories of these very same creek adventures...you?

**********

off on our first hiking adventure.
it was actually a trail to a waterfall...but it wasn't the falls we were heading to see.

it was something a bit more magical...

look at these amazing cairns people built on this creek.
hundreds of them.
everywhere.
these pictures seriously do not do this place justice....it was amazing.
and peaceful.
and inviting.

made you want to jump right in and build your own.
so we did.

the light was so pretty here.
we had lunch and played for what seemed like hours.

this sweet little exchange went on for quite awhile...who knows what they were talking about under there!:)

the girls wanted to be real hikers and carry the packs back down the trail.
what a great day.

**********

vogel state park is a beautiful place with a great lake for swimming.
we spent a couple of days here soaking up the scenery and enjoying the water.

i love these two of aubrey covering her eyes while my moms buries things in the sand for her to find.

a happy, happy day at the lake.

and a happy, happy night with poppy rides...

...ends with a happy, happy treat from mimi.

i missed all the smoky fun while i was putting aubrey to sleep.
but i heard it was amazing.:)

**********

we hiked up to brasstown bald which is georgia's highest mountain.
on a clear day you can see tennessee, and the carolinas too.

we weren't quite so lucky with weather that day.

but it was still quite a view!

**********

more creek fun at meeks park

you can tell from our clothes that we did a little more then "wade" in the water.
but on a hot day that water is pretty inviting.
a few minutes after this picture we saw a brown snake swimming through the water a few feet from our feet! we quickly decided it was time to go!!:)

**********

on our last day we hiked up to anna ruby falls.

this was how i got my workouts in that week:)

who knows what they're talking about half the time...

...but these two bonded that's for sure.

what in the world are they doing??

**********

here are a few more random phone shots.

relaxing in my parents bed watching hgtv with aubrey

ice cream

crazy kazoo band

slidin

walking dogs for the humane society

lovin on maggie

chillin

we spent so much time on this porch...watching humming birds, reading, swinging, listening to birds,  rocking, eating, chatting...i didn't get nearly enough pictures of that.

**********

thanks so much for the memories
we love you
and can't wait to see you again
soon.

thanks for sticking with me on this rather large and often jumbly jumpy post...note to self...blog while ON vacation!
...whew...

  1. Awww...I'm the first to leave a comment. What beautiful pictues, beautiful time with our beautiful kids and grandkids. You forgot our tubing adventure, but I know you didn't have a camera. Boy that made me tired just looking at the pictures. We sure were busy, but it was a great time and so glad you could visit our little piece of paradise in the mountains.
You're right...Aubrey and Poppy did bond. They had such cute pictures together.

  3. Oh Cindy, I loved these pictures. That creek, the mountains, the smores, the waterfall. All so great, so pretty, and fun. I love those cairns too. What a magical place for sure. I would have been in picture taking heaven. :) We saw a lot of the cairns on Oahu, and I just was amazed by them as well. I'm so glad your family had a great trip to Georgia. It's always great to be with your parents too, I'm sure! Great post and pictures!
