Summer List ~ An Update~

At the beginning of summer we made our summer list.  It was fun to make and even more fun to look at and use  to plan some of our time together.  I have to say, we did pretty good...not perfect...but pretty good.:)

boy was our summer hot this year
we decided the big wooden park and the orchard will be
oh so much more fun with temps under 90!

we also never camped out in the backyard
something else cooler weather makes all the more enjoyable
we did have a family sleepover inside though
the girls loved it and we enjoyed the ac and our comfy beds.

I posted about most of our summer list accomplishments already
except our "read 100 books"
every time I read a book to them we wrote it on a link and kept track of our growing list that way
the girls did a lot of reading independently, but we just used this system to record the books I read to them
it was fun to look back on all the titles from the summer

one thing we didn't get to that I really wanted to do was our
Family Rules Board
I think I originally saw the idea here
I just love it
we have all of our rules written
that was the kind of easy part
I think I may settle for a really pretty typed list instead of a
super crafty time consuming really pretty canvas
what do you think?
keep it simple right???

How about you?
Did you check everything off your summer list?
Enjoy the day

  1. I bet your girls' teachers will be pleased with all the books you guys read this summer!
We loved doing the summer list back in May...it really got us excited about school being out! We didn't make it to a baseball game...but no one really seemed to care much! We will definately make another list again!

  4. You did great on your summer list, you have most everything checked off. Looks like you had a great summer! We still have about 1/4 of the things we put on our summer list unchecked. But, that's ok (I think we were a little over-ambitious) - it will give us ideas for next year.

  5. You did a great job with your summer list. It looks like you got almost all of them accomplished. I really like the chain idea for the books, that's neat.

  7. I think this summer went quicker than it normally does. lol I know that isn't true, but it sure felt like it. We did a lot of fun things, but like you said, it was a little too hot for everything. You guys really accomplished a lot. I love the links you made. What a great idea!

  8. Looks like your list was pretty much done! Awesome! When I was a teacher, I made those book chains too, the kids would love to see how far it stretched at the end of the year. And I must say "bravo" on those packed lunches. My Zoe would love love love that butterfly sandwich. I am so going to steal your idea of using the silicone cups for small things. What a great idea!

  10. Not everything. Nope. We intentionally saved a few for cooler weather...Zoo and Golf, but there were a couple we just didn't get to. It sure was fun trying though. Everyone had such fun and creative ideas.

  11. You all had such a productive (and fun) summer! Way to go reading 100 books. I love the idea of the list, my daughters still a little too young for that but we will definitely have to make one in the future!
