hi friends!
happy friday to you.
today it is dreary, rainy and cold.
certainly can't complain with the winter we have had...but seeing the sun makes all the difference to this florida girl.:)

have you tried these muffins yet?

not as healthy as homemade i'm sure, but a yummy alternative for a busy school morning.
we have had the cinnamon streusel and the blueberry.
something about the smell of muffins baking in the morning to get two sleepy girls out of bed.
works every time.

riley has been feeling tired and sleepy the last few days.
of course you would think this would convince her to go to bed early without reading at night.
but...no....sometimes her light is on after we go to bed.
it takes all my mommy power to resist telling her lights out go to bed NOW!
but i want her to make those decisions on her own.
i think she is old enough really.
what i want is for her to learn to say..."i'm tired, what i need is sleep".
not another half hour of reading.
i guess some grown-ups have a hard time with that though huh??:)
this morning as she sat there all groggy and fuzzy eyed i had her tell me some words she was feeling...a little morning note to her night time self.

she added some more words of her own...we will see if it helps tonight.:)

finally picked up my camera today.
tried to mess around in manual and go over some of the things i learned in class.
ready for waaaaaay too many pictures of aubrey??:)

this is really not the best picture...but we have been doing a lot of this lately.
biting our nails.:(
guess she is taking after the other june-bug in the house.

see that little boo-boo on her hand?
she has asked me every day for a week..."where dat come from? can you tell me about why dats dare (that's there)" i honestly have no idea where it came from and i'm seriously running out of plausible stories.:)

meet pearl.
as in Brownie and Pearl.
we walked into the candy store one day and and aubrey let out this delightful squeal and ran to her, picked her up and said "look mommy, it's pearl!"
you know that little kitty had to find her way under our Christmas tree.

i practiced a bit on pearl...cause she sits still.:)

why is it so hard to get them to look...and smile?
when i asked her to look "right here" and tapped the side of the lens this is what i got...

maybe if i lay you flat on your back and stand over you...will you look at me then?
tickling that belly helps too:)

that top left one..with the eyebrow slightly raised...riley has that same look;)
love it.

so what are your weekend plans?
the big girls have a girl scout event on saturday and riley has a soccer game on sunday.
other then that...not much on the agenda.
i would love to get a weekend glimpses post out...for ol' times sake:)
we will see how that goes.
ha ha

have a happy day,

{thankful for}
1. subway lunch out with riley
2. it's friday
3. returning motivation
4. snuggles with aubrey and pearl
5. a yummy dinner planned for tonight

  1. Oh my goodness. Look at that sweet face. I love the one where she is pointing right at you (great DOF - hee hee). I gave up trying to make Kendall smile. They always looked so cheesy. Now I make her tell a joke - she always laughs at her own jokes. Enjoy your weekend.

  2. wow, cindy - what amazing shots of your sweet aubrey - she's really growing up, huh?! and ... THOSE EYES!! have a wonderful weekend :)

  3. That was a good idea.. to have her tell you all the words she was feeling. Maybe she could use that as her bookmark...

I feel the same as you. You want her to LOVE reading and it's such a joy that she does but she needs sleep... I think your 'words' will help.

Sounds like a good weekend, sure is nice to see you back.

ps~ your pictures are awesome. Aubrey's hair is getting so long and pretty. Oh I'd love that soft shiny healthy hair.

pps~ sitting here with my box of color on my head. Getting out the grey!

  4. Tired kids in the morning...maybe it is just that time of year. I always feel like we are stickers on bedtime at the beginning of the year and as the year goes on we get later and later. I like the idea of giving her the responsibility to turn out her light and go to bed. Sometimes, a book is just so good! How great that she is such a reader!
Beautiful pictures and giggles with Aubrey. She is a great muse!
Happy weekend and happy that you are back to blogging!

  5. Love these pictures of Aubrey. She is a doll, and changing so much, but just as precious as ever. Boyd bites his nails too, then eats them....before we can stop him. ugh. :)

I was just like your daughter when I was her age. I would read for hours and hours. I couldn't put down a book!

Have a wonderful weekend. I hope you get a break from your dreary weather. xoxo.

  6. I haven't seen that muffin mix at our grocery store. I'll have to check that out.
    Love the pics of Aubrey!!!
I don't know how Riley does it, but reading puts me to sleep.
Looking forward (a little) to our FL trip...Whole Foods, Michael's, Home Goods, Target, etc, etc. I can see the $$ signs!

  7. um....what did I miss? What class are you taking!??!?!

  8. Oh I can't wait to see what you will discover with that new camera. Wait until its warm enough to get outdoor shots. Just following them and capturing whatever comes ends up creating the best pictures. Hope your weekend was a good one. We had soccer too.

  9. So glad you're back to blogging. Missed you. Aubrey has the most beautiful eyes.

  10. I've never seen those muffins in our grocery. I'll have to be on the lookout!
What awesome pictures you took of Aubrey...I love the ones where she is laying her head down...so so cute!
