{A Picnic with Pudding}

still a scorcher here.
but we didn't let that stop us from our tuesday lunch date with riley.
so happy that aubrey's half day schedule allows us to get to the big girls just in time for lunch.
another reason i know this half-day plan was meant to be.

we brought pudding and whipped cream.
perfect lunch dessert in my book.

as we were driving to the park aubrey said (emphasizing the P sound of course!) "we're having Pudding in the Park. let's go Park by the Picnic table Please"

we were all laughing and trying to think of as many ways to use the letter "p" on our picnic.

sorry...it's probably a "had to be there" kind of joke.
but it kept us laughing and it's just the type of little thing i want to remember three years from now...:)

then aubrey and i headed to our little library and home for a snuggle and between the lions. do you know between the lions? the best show ever for early learners in my opinion. i remember watching it every single day with the big girls when they came home for lunch in kindergarten. so sad they took it off the air...but thank goodness for newfangled smart tv's that have YouTube!

{A Picnic, and Jane}

today was so beautiful!
like i "almost want to light a pumpkin spice candle" kind of beautiful! we woke up to 52 degrees and zero humidity.
windows were open.
sky was blue and cloudless.
picnic basket was packed.
we were park bound and we couldn't wait.
(although we did have to wait for our late sleeper...riley didn't come down till 10:45...that's 12+ hours of sleep...kind of newborn-ish if you ask me!!:))

after three back-to-school haircuts we were off to check out the 5th grade class lists! janey was so excited and nervous. me too! as usual.

riley already spotted jane's name on the list we were hoping for! at first jane was all smiles and giggles....

then after looking at the list more closely and realizing that her bff was no longer in her class...and she didn't see any real girls she knew or had connected with before...her face turned to this.

and that just breaks a mama's heart!
searching for the right words and just giving her hugs, kisses and some space. praying for a smile tomorrow. and having a feeling it will come.

{Thursday}

another beautiful "warm" fall day here.
the sun was shining and the wind was bloooooowing.
i mean crazy wind.
almost blow you over wind and
drive you a little batty wind.

we picked up janey for lunch and headed to try out our new picnic spot.
she had p.e. right before lunch and was " soooooo hot" so we spent most of our time in the cool car.
but we did pop out a bit to admire the view.

every time we picked a place to sit for a quick pic aubrey kept saying "no...just a little bit closer".
after the shot she said "lets put our feet in the water".
janey quickly said "no...see that sign over there...it says no putting your feet in the water".
it didn't...but i think she's got this mothering thing down already!:)

after dropping janey back at school we headed out for a few quick errands.
i made the mistake of explaining to aubrey that if you have to use the bathroom in the car and it's an emergency you can tell mommy and i can find you a place.

5 minutes later...you guessed it..."mom......!!!"
i found a spot.
hauled her in.
lined the seat with t.p. (for the record i hate that!)
propped her up.
waited.
and waited.
"i don't think i really have to go mom!"
i knew it!
lesson learned.

tomorrow the girls are off from school.
we are all craving a sleep in day together.
we are thinking apple orchard.
we may need our heavy coats though...brrr!
crazy fall weather.
we love it.:)
