{Weekend Glimpses}

we had a good weekend.
how 'bout you?

our soccer tournament was cancelled at the last moment due to all the rain soaked fields so friday afternoon we were all a flurry inviting friends over, and making plans. i know it was the weather. it was chilly but bea.u.ti.ful out and that energized us all.

some of us had bigger projects then others.

the doors were opening and shutting all weekend and the tv never went on.
the girls spent the majority of their time outside playing with friends, and riding bikes.
it was perfect.

since we had a weekend change of plans and a scheduling conflict pop up later in the month, i headed into the city a few weekends early with my friend for a shopping day in chicago. i call it a shopping day, but it's really more of a looking/chatting/walking/eating day. we always have amazing food on these little excursions . poor dave...he's the foody in the house after all...i'm just along for the ride. i can always find at least 5 things on the menu he would order. at least i take lots of pictures of the food and describe it in great detail. sounds kind of torturous...but he can always  make it better anyways.:)

i never get tired of looking at these buildings.
chicago is such a beautiful place.

i am so grateful for this weekend.
there was so much laughter and smiles and sunshine, and lots of happy girls running around.
including me.:) and we all needed that.

hope your weekend was a wonderful one,
cindy

{Insta Friday :: week 16}

::happy friday friends::
well...we still have cloudy gray skies, but at least it's not raining.
no it decided to snow instead!
yes, you read that right. only teeny tiny flurries, but flurries nonetheless.
ugh

aubrey and i just had to get out today so we went to the book store and browsed and played and read and danced on the stage and ooohed and ahhhhed at all the wonderfully cool toys. our barnes and noble has the most amazing toys...not sure we'll be able to walk really fast passed that section while looking the other way ever again.

::here's a peek at our week::

ok...i've had four coffees in my life now.
starting to think this might become a problem.
janey and i went on a little date saturday and shared a cookie.
i kept debating getting a warm cup of deliciousness and she kept saying..."oh go ahead...be one of those cool moms that carry around those cups!"
ha
she liked it too...yikes!

breakfast on monday with daddy before grocery shopping.
i just loved the way that little curl looked against that bright blue jacket.
and oh that grin...
i don't want to forget this...they were playing "isn't she lovely" by stevie wonder at the grocery store and i sang it to the loveliest three year old i know.
...sigh...
sandy the "free ride pony" finally got fixed.
how can yard work with that by your side not be fun?
 teacher bday gift.
printed the label here.
the one benefit of school day lunch dates in the rain.
and i don't know about you...but all those squishy wiggly worms all over the place is kind of grossing me out!!!
 my drive home.
every.
day.
this.
week.
janey our very picky eater who usually never tries anything new tried a taco
and loved them!
making bird feeders at the library.
trying one of my favorite desserts wednesday night after panera.
ok, weird i know, but when i worked at the mall when i came home from college every summer and christmas, i would always go to the dq and ask for a sugar cone filled with sno caps.
they charged me 50 cents for the cone and one topping.
score.
and yummy!
they loved them and the story behind it.:)
playing legos at the book store.
we were there for about three hours.
sometimes i feel like this little one gets hurried a lot.
"gotta take the girls to school, gotta go pick up the girls, hurry it's soccer time"
today i was determined to go at her pace and let her lead the day.
it was perfect.

hope your week was wonderful,
cindy

{hi}

yesterday felt like friday and
today feels like monday again!
how did that happen?:)

it was a big beginning of the week for us.
janey's lovely teacher celebrated her birthday on tuesday so room mom duties kicked in.
the kids brought in homemade cards and we gave her this book  with this little label added to the back.

she loved it.

then wednesday janey had her harry potter book report and her "how to" presentations due.
she wanted to go out with a book report bang so we went all out.
we braided her hair and she dressed in a borrowed cloak to get that full hermione look.
she brought in the soundtrack to play in the background during her presentation too.
this girl knows how to put on a show.

for her "how to" project she made caramel brownies.
so of course we needed three plates of brownies for the kids to sample.

did i mention that wednesday felt like friday.

dave was out of town that night so we went to panera for dinner.
we had a great time.
hangin, chattin and celebrating that all the weekly happenings were o.v.e.r.!!
in the car on the way home riley out of the blue says..."i love you guys!...and daddy too of course"
it was just the sweetest thing ever.
it really made my week.
i know how it feels to have those unexpected feelings of love just overtake you and i am glad the girls are learning the importance of sharing them.:)

we are definitely living up to april showers around here.

sadly i think it might be a few more days before we see the sun.
hope the sun is shining where you are.

have a happy day,
cindy
