{Wednesday}

today i tried to stay home and tackle the house.
floors.
bathrooms.
fresh sheets.
and do a little xmas shopping via the computer.
about 85% success with my list for the day.
pretty good i guess.

scooped aubrey from school.
made a yummy lunch together then scooped up the big girls two hours early.
we grabbed a bagel and headed to the library.

these bonus middle of the week library days with all three girls make me oh so happy.

jane returned her new favorite book (yes she kissed it goodbye before putting it in the slot...only my sweet jane) and we walked out with 67 new books to read. yes. i said 67! what can i say...we have a book problem!

mac n cheese and fruit for dinner (daddy's out of town)
snuggles by the fire.
giant floor puzzles all over the place and ice cream for dessert.

pretty good wednesday in my book.

have a happy day friends,
cindy

{Weekending}

that big snowstorm we were supposed to get...the one that might thrill the girls with a snow day on monday...ehhh...not so much! we still did all the good "snow day" cooking and baking though.

love this egg casserole recipe dave found.
super yummy, packed with protein and it reheated so nicely we got several good mornings out of it. a make ahead keeper for sure!

we had some good quite time this weekend.
lots of game playing and hanging out.
chatting with this one in the morning for hours.
i just love her so much.
i had to snap a picture at that very moment.
i think right after that she said "mom, will you help me clean a bit in here...this mess is starting to get to me!":) that's my girl.:)

this one is cracking me up with her stories lately.
and they are elaborate too.
big sleepovers with ellie (her imaginary friend who doubles as her little sister sometimes) and trips to the beach and sneaking into closets to find creatures hidden behind the coat hangers. i seriously can't keep up with that imagination but oh how i love it. ellie sleeps on the "bunk" above aubrey these days and every night we have to read to her and sing to her and tuck her in.
whew.
it's like having twins for goodness sakes!
(and for the record...twin girls...heaven!!)

designing dream homes.

lunch
grilled chicken
crispy tortilla
lettuce
cheese
sour cream
homemade pico
homemade quac.
yum

aubrey went to a birthday party on sunday.
she was so, so, SO excited!
i think the biggest thrill for her was actually giving her little friend her gift.
she waited so patiently for it to be her turn to go up and sit with her while she opened her present. she was beaming and giggling. it was the sweetest.

janey still loves when i read to her every night.
truth is, i love it too and hope it never ends.
have you read this one yet?
it won the newbery award this year and it is amazing!!
we finished it on sunday and i have to admit...i teared up a bit!
such a fantastic story!

so, what did you do this weekend?
hope it was happy.

have a lovely day,
cindy

{Bike Rides and Books}

yesterday aubrey and i loaded her bike into the van, dropped the big girls off at school, and met some friends at the park near our house. we went for a 2.2 mile walk/ride that was so much fun.

we found:
caterpillars
dancing leaves
yellow flowers perfect for behind our ears
sticks
leaves and
seed pods.

it was a perfect "why haven't we done this before and can't wait till next tuesday" kind of day.

the scooters and bikes were abandoned midway.
part of the reason our little walk took over an hour.

but no one complained.:)

***************************************************

today aubrey and i ran into our "little library" looking for one of our favorite laurie berkner cds.
but of course there is no such thing as a quick little trip into the library in our world.:)

we were there about an hour and came home with some sweet, sweet books.

reading with her glasses
taking inspiration from laurie's these are my glasses song.

this one was by far our favorite.

check out the authors site too.
lovely.

today my heart is feeling full.
i have so many thoughts, dreams, plans spinning around my head:
books to get
things to make/change/fluff/spruce up
dates to make
friends to call
memories to save/print/make

ahhhhhh.....
it's a jumble in this little mind of mine.
ever have a day like that?
or am i the only adhd dreamer out there??:)

what ever your day has brought you i hope it was a happy one,
cindy

{A Beautiful Book}

janey and i were at a bookstore date on saturday and happened upon this little beauty.

we plopped on the floor to read it and honestly...she had to finish...i was too choked up to get the words out.
simply beautiful and
heartwarming.

and

it has an award winning short film to go along with it.

enjoy.

have a happy day,
cindy

{These Days....}

i can't seem to keep enough books in the house
i think between them, the girls read over 20 chapter books this spring break
janey is really into this series by patricia reilly giff
riley is on the third book of this series by liz kessler and
aubrey loves brownie and pearl by cynthia rylant
i also started reading this delightful book by Steve Voake out loud to them in the evenings
we all love it
what books are your children really into these days?

have a happy day,
cindy

We Are Enchanted...

...with this new little book we found

we just started reading it together yesterday and we can't put it down
you know that kind of book...when you say
"Ok, one more chapter, then bedtime"
and then when you're done they BEG for more!!
this is that book.

and you know what's really cool?
the author has a web-site and a blog where the kids can leave comments
and she actually replies!!!
my girls are loving that

if you are at all intrigued
and decide to start reading this book
be ready for this...

little notes, cheerios and teeny tiny cups of water left in doll houses...
for the mice:)

What books are you and your children enjoying these days?

Happy Half Birthday Janey Brooke

for about 3 years now we have been celebrating half birthdays
i think it all began because the girls were always obsessed
about getting that "half" added to their age...me not so much

yesterday was Janey's special half day
according to tradition, on your half birthday you get a date with the parent of your choice,
{we try to do those every month on the date of their birth...some months go better then others!}
you can choose dinner and a homemade dessert
and the surprise gift is a new book

Janey chose putting and the park with Daddy
fried cheese and mandarin oranges
and a rainbow cake
her date was perfect
and her dinner was gobbled up with no complaints about "thank you bites"

she received one of her favorite new books we discovered at the library, A Friend (love it!!!)
and the cake was a delicious "rainbowy surprise"

we love you so very much Janey Brooke
