{Mini Hallway Makeover}

rarely do i see something adorable on pinterest and jump on it. maybe you know the drill...you see it...fall in love with it...pin it...stare at it longingly...but never quite get to it!:)

i looked everywhere for the source but couldn't find it...sorry

but when i saw this image i fell big time n love.
i knew we could pull this off.
and rather quickly!

i found the sign at hobby lobby...yes i did a happy dance and squealed a bit...i had no idea long how long the inspiration photo had been floating around out there and when the sign was actually still at hobby lobby i knew it was meant to be. corney right!

we of course took this time to clean out the pantry and paint away our last remaining bit of red. lightening up that little dark space made me so happy!!

it was a family affair painting those pantry doors. not so bad for our first time. and you know what that immediately made me think right?...white kitchen cabinets here we come!!!:) someday.

love my little birdie print hanging on the garage door...got that at hobby lobby the same day...two reasons to squeal!:)

we used dolphin fin from home depot which was the color mentioned in the inspiration photo.

getting those doors back on...biggest pain of the project!:)

ta-da!
almost!
one more detail would make it perfect in my book...

a schoolhouse light!
i just love the look of those fixtures and have always wanted a reason to get one. this counts right?
we found ours at home depot.
lowes had some too but i was after the most wattage i could find and this one did the trick!

slowly but surely we will replace our other fixtures with these as well. i love em and the light is clean white and bright!

i'm inspired to tackle some of those other things i've got pinned!

have a happy day,
cindy

{Happy Friday}

another sunshiny day with temps in the 50's!
life is good.

grabbed myself one of these yesterday.
i've been so good in the soda department lately  (if you don't count pizza nights...i can't have  pizza without coke!) but it was finally "get my hair done day" so i had to treat myself!

 gray is gone and that feels better then any bubbly drink!

wish i could pull off a fun little headband like that!:)
middle of the week lunch dates are still the best.

spent some dreamy wandering moments in my fav place.
don't these colors just make your mouth water and your hands want to grab a popsicle...or some other kind of frozen treat!

and this little beauty flew right into my cart.
perfect piece for a mini bathroom make-over that will happen
some day.
soon.
hopefully!

i'm seeing white bead board...light blue walls...white ruffly shower curtain...barely pink towels and fluffy white bath mats. and lots and lots of girlie inspirational art!
can you picture it!?:)

tomorrow i am heading to chicago for the day with my girlfriend.
we are seeing this guy in concert (ever heard of him? new to me...but sounds good! i'm up for any kind of music and a day of shopping, food and fun) should be an adventure.

hope your friday was a fantastic one...and what's goin' on this weekend for you?

have a lovely day,
cindy

{Christmas Around Here}

now that the wrapping paper has settled and our computer is working again, i'm gonna attempt to recap some of the loveliness that went on here these last few weeks...hopefully before valentines day!:)

we just love decorating for the holidays.
no sooner is the turkey cleaned up and we are pulling out the Christmas boxes.
usually takes us a few days to get it all in place.
(and i'm usually completely worn out by then...!)
but it's all worth it in the end.
so here are a few pics of our Holiday Home.

i got a new advent calendar this year and i love it.
you can read more about our advent activities here.
sorry to say we weren't quite as good as last year on getting all those activities done...next year we WILL do better.

you can tell how late i took these photos.
see the Christmas Eve jammies and ornaments all ready to go?:)
do you color code your wrapping paper?
each of us gets our own...no need for tags that way!:)

dave and i began collecting our village right after we got married.
i love it.

i love hanging some of our old holiday art work.
we were so lacking in the Christmas craft department this year.
and that makes me so sad.
next year....

and we'll end this little tour with three little angels...

two snuggled up watching one of our favorite Christmas movies...ever!

and one decorating her own Christmas home. :)

have a happy day,
cindy

{Thanksgiving Around Here}

not too many thanksgiving decorations up in our house.
the poor favorite forgotten holiday.:)

we just leave all our non-jack-o-lantern goodies up and add in a few extras.

preschool turkeys

and second grade pilgrim girls

i fell in love with this when i saw it but it just didn't look quite right over our fireplace.
so i decided to put it on the little wall near the stairs and hang our thankfuls there.
so far i think it works.

...momentary pause for a cute little princess dora with her cape, backpack, pony and paper boots prancing around...

i just loved this too.
so i decided to make one.
our fireplace needed a little somethin since our thankfuls were hanging somewhere else this year.

and one of my favorite thanksgiving things...the quilt i made with the first grade class i interned with waaaaaaaay back in 1988. (yikes!) they gave it to me as a gift when i left and it has hung in my/our home ever since.

so there you have it.
that's pretty much what thanksgiving looks like around here.

have a happy day,
cindy

{thankful for}
1. a warmer day
2. peanut butter on wheat toast
3. small towns
4. shiny clean appliances
5. a full pantry

{Fall at our Place}

fall is my favorite time of year.
we don't have a ton of fall decor, but what we have i truly love.
come on in and check out some of our fall goodies.

::kitchen and dining room tables::

::mantle::
i saw the idea of hanging up old halloween pics here.
the girls just love looking at them all.
we might need a new plan next year...we are running out of room.
did you see this?
i sooooo want to do it and as soon as those letters go 50% off at hobby lobby i will.

::family room:
i love the new pillows and throw i got this year at target.
it has blue in it which is hard to find in fall and i think it looks good with the picture wall.
we keep the cutie out all year too.

::kiddie stuff::
homemade banner from my mom and calendar from riley:)

::front porch::
dave's genius spider web looks amazing from the street

so there you have it...all the fall...we have a few halloween goodies that never made it out this year.
maybe next year.
it has pretty much looked like this year after year but here are some posts from the past.:)

 have a happy day,
cindy
