Weekend Glimpses

what a beautiful long weekend.
we sure did fill it with a whole lot of goodness.
game Night
ginger-ale (gotta get it even) and popcorn
Rummy-Q and Guess Who
see Janey's clown...perfect!
Daddy was a teacher
I was a kangaroo...perfect again!:)

the weather could not have been better for our Saturday morning trip to the Farmers Market
we got all the essentials in my book
kettle corn
soy candles
and the fixins for homemade salsa

while Dave started working on the laundry room bench
the girls and I took a scooter and wagon ride
we finished with some backyard fun

we moved our old laundry room bench to the family room
Aubrey likes setting up her friends on it
oh...and climbing up on it herself too
uh-oh

Saturday Dave and the girls camped out in the backyard
the night was gorgeous
cool and crisp
they had fun reading by lantern light
watching another episode in the "Lamby Series" (don't ask...silly show put on by Janey, but only in tents)
star gazing
telling stories
laughing
snuggling
getting wet from the tarp left off to star gaze
warming up with early morning hot chocolate

while Dave and Riley went grocery shopping,
Janey and Aubrey had some silly indoor camping fun
who is that cutie in disguise??

we had our good friends over Sunday night for delicious homemade pizza
wish I had taken more pictures of the pizza (I live with an amazing pizza maker)
but I was too busy keeping everyone happy and fed
the kids had a great time being silly and going on scavenger hunts
isn't it funny...our best friends have 3 boys and we have 3 girls!

we spent our last long weekend day at a Forest Preserve near-by
the water was an amazing color
we walked out on the dock and along one of the nature paths
it was a great day

today it is Tuesday
the weekend is over and everyone returns to school
Dave is taking one more day off
so we get a lunch date!

Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend

Enjoy the day,
Cindy

The Big Reveal

I know a lot of you may have seen board and battan rooms on other blogs.  I have been in love with it even before I knew what in the world it was called!:)  I guess the love affair first began looking at  my favorite design  magazine...you know the Pottery Barn Kids Catalog!! :)

I love all of the white, the way it brightens the space, and the clean, fresh look of it.  We started this process a few weeks back and let me say it was a BIG job!!  Bigger then we ever thought it would be.  We still have to do a bit of touch up painting, but for the most part it's done! Ta Da......

I know it is hard to see the details in this collage. (click it and it will get bigger!:) )  I love the way it adds light to the basement.  We do not have any daylight windows in the space, so it can get quite dim down there.  The two doors you see are to an unfinished storage closet and the girls hide-out!  (That is the pink and purple room pictured which is currently being used as an American Girl School.)  {see the snowman on the door...that was from Janey's b-day party in January, we played pin the nose on the snowman and she still won't let me take it down!!:) Gotta love my Janey Brooke} Behind the yellow chair is a guest bedroom and  bathroom.  The girls love the doll/kitchen area.  Can you see Aubrey playing?  She likes that area the best too.  I love the art center.  My heart goes pitter-pat for a fully stocked art area.  I especially love the .50 cent glass jars I got at Hobby Lobby to store some of their supplies in.

So...now I get to decorate and add the fun touches.  Any ideas?  These are my big plans/dreams so far....

have Dave build 3-4 bookcases for more toy and book storage
add their art to the walls (what do you like for frames, white, black, silver, combo of all??)
some fun words on the wall
a world map to match our US one
area rug for color
window seat
old rustic table and chairs for the art area

I would love to hear any suggestions you have.  I am so pleased with the way it came out and I couldn't be happier.  I know stage 2 will take us/me awhile.  I don't make design decisions quickly!:)

Hope you all have a wonderful long weekend!
Any big plans?
My wonderful super amazing  hubby took off today and Tuesday...something about adding board and battan to the laundry room.....
stay tuned!

A Good Day

Today Aubrey and I went to Target.
I usually always have a good day at Target.
Even with a toddler strapped to me that points at everything she sees and says
"Diss, Diss, Diss...".{translation...can I have this}

I got this little beauty.
Cinnamon Stick Soy Candle
two in a pack for only $8
pretty good deal I thought
and when I smell it burning I can close my eyes and dream of my favorite season ever...
FALL

then Dave came home with these

and made one of my favorite easy dinners
Chicken Sandwiches on the grill
best part is, the clean-up is easy too!

He also brought home some of this...

what a sweetie!

my absolute favorite
can you guess the flavor??
no..not Pumpkin Spice or Apple Pie
just plain old
Mint Chocolate Chip
not very Fally
but my all time absolute favorite flavor.
What's your favorite flavor?

Sounds like this good day is turning into a really good night.
Hope your day was a good one too!
